Do you suspect that your child might be struggling but has difficulty speaking about it?

This is quite common. Children often do not express themselves through words, but rather through play. This play can include dramatic role play, art, and symbolic play using toys. A child therapist is skilled at understanding the language of play and utilizing it as a therapeutic tool.

Teens often prefer to open up to peers and adults outside of their family system…

This is, to a certain extent, developmentally appropriate. It is a time when adolescents are building their social networks and identifying with role models. For these reasons, adolescence can be an optimal time to engage a therapist that is trained to navigate the various challenges facing this stage of development.

 Additional Therapy Services

  • Parent Guidance

Parents can benefit from ongoing communication with a child therapist. The more curious a parent is about their child’s behavior, the more they can be enlisted as co-therapist. This service can be provided in addition to child therapy or on it’s own. Parents gain confidence in their own intuition.

  • Therapy for Adults

I am particularly skilled at helping adults navigate life changes, cope with anxiety, and process past trauma. All child therapists must be dually trained in adult and child therapy. For this reason, we tend to be “generalists” in our practice and can treat the full life span.

  • Psychoanalysis

Psychoanalysis is a deep way of working. Typically clients will come in multiple times per week. Clients will learn about themselves, the way they think, and their relationship with others. This form of treatment is best for those in search of meaningful change in patterns of behavior.

  • DBT Coaching

DBT is an evidenced-based treatment that integrates aspects of mindfulness, behavioral therapy, and biopsychosocial theory. It can be an excellent adjunct to more insight oriented therapies, especially when working through depression and interpersonal difficulties.
